Why does MacOS command such loyalty? Surely it’s just a means to get things done, isn’t it? So, MacOS stalwarts of Reddit - what does MacOS bring to your lives that Windows does not? Windows for me is transparent - it’s just there as a platform for my work and I rarely notice it’s there. My love of tech demands I buy a MacBook Pro that I can afford but don’t really need. I had an M1 Air for a couple of weeks and it was amazing as an object to hold and use. In truth, it’s the hardware that interests me. I have some limited experience with MacOS and I’m not afraid of learning new keyboard shortcuts and whatever else I’d need to make the switch. I’ve seen so many claims of “once you go mac you don’t go back”, and “I used Windows for ten years and then I used MacOS for one day and I was hooked”, but these are rarely backed up by reasons of why. The trouble is, I’m being lured in by MacOS. ![]() So only a fool messes with something that works, right? ![]() I like Windows - it doesn’t get in my way and I know how it works. I earn my living on a Windows PC using Office apps. ![]() Here’s my situation: I’m a lifelong Windows user.
